The reason I want to do this is because I want to convince myself and to show others (who have seen the 1990s version) that UPM CAS restrooms are now...
voila!
I remember one UPM student who told me a few years back "Ate, ang ganda na ng CR ng CAS, parang SM!" and my reaction was of complete disbelief. I cannot imagine it. I was used to the CAS days when there was no running water in the restrooms, we had to make use of the "walang-kamatayang tabo" at Orocan containers, broken tiles, dripping pipes and cracked walls, unhinged cubicle doors, and of course, the history of UP and everyday gossip written on the cubicle walls.
For those who are shocked that I write one long post about a restroom, pasensya na... talagang hindi kami sanay sa UP na may magandang pasilidad LOL. Recently, UP had a Tuition Fee Increase of 300%, much to the dismay of thousands of parents and students. There have been numerous cases wherein a UP student had to drop out because of the high tuition (effective AY 2008, freshmen tuition is P1,000 per unit. The old tuition was only P250/unit).
I am happy that the UP CAS restrooms are now this beautiful (maganda na ito para sa amin!). Ok lang sa amin na may maihiang maganda kahit hindi na kumain sa sobrang tipid. I just hope that the quality of education would remain as high. Pero paano na ang madaming Pinoy na hindi talaga maka-afford nitong ganito kamahal na tuition? Don't they have the same right to education as we do? And is 300% increase really justifiable?! Hay josko, buti nalang malapit ang Ermita. Good luck sa atin...
